    Morning

I am in need of some assistance. I have the following inductor and need to test it. Its arriving this week.

    Datasheet:

    http://docs-europe.electrocomponents.com/webdocs/1154/0900766b8115465d.pdf

    Its the RB6122.

One thing I do not get is, is a single phase (DC) Inductor but it has 4 wires, does this mean that each side of the Inductor is split into 2 wires to handle the power OR does it mean this inductor is in actual fact 2 inductors built into one?

These are used in Switched mode psu's for filtering out the High frequency harmonics, they have two windings , one is for the "Positive" and the other is for the " Negative " supply and the harmonics cancel each other out in the coil.

As for testing all you can do is measure the inductance or resistance of the windings.

Ok, but I can use these inductors as i would normally? I want to use it inside a high power DC-DC converter. Calculations is already completed and this inductor is the one required for the design.
