I have a 6 volt motor scooter with a magneto/points ignition. I would like to extend the life of the points by using a 6 volt DC milliamp signal to control the unregulated AC output from the magneto coil. Is there a transistor that has an isolated input and output that can be used in the circuit? Maximum frequency of 1000Hz.

I looked at soild state relays but don't fully understand the spec sheets.

Thanks for your comments, Dave
