Bingo. The OP has no chance of making a replacement in the timeframe available. Frankly, I think the odds of any repair are scant and a design from ground zero is more work than buying a new charger at minimum wage pay rate.

OP, work it out between the two of you and go buy something ASAP.

I would try to google the charger model, or the laptop model and see if you can get a schematic of the charger.

That will have the resistor values listed.

Also, posting the make and model of the laptop, possibly someone has the same one.

They may be willing to pop it open and give you the resistor values.
