I have a CTS Knights crystal in a can that fits a 14 pin IC socket with pins at 1, 7, 8, 14. I need to know the pinout purposes: Vcc, Vss, Sig, etc.

Thanks,
John

Generally, the connections to 14-pin DIP oscillators are:
Rich (BB code):
 1 - N/C
 7 - GND/case
 8 - OUT
14 - +5v
Be certain to use a 0.1uF (100nF) ceramic or metal poly film cap from +5v to GND.

I checked the pin 7 ( and the others ) to case with an ohm meter and they are not connected.

The manufacturer's part number is MXO 50-2.

Thank you for your reply,
John

MXO 45 is the same. Thank you.
I found another MXO 50-2 soldered to a 7404 in my junk box. I was able to confirm it.
