i2c isolation where and why

    what is i2c isolation and where it is required?
    and what is necessity of using i2c isolation??

    When system A is required to be electrically isolated from system B but still needs to communicate via the I2C interface the I2C interface itself also needs to be electrically isolated in order for electrically isolation to exist.

    Johann points to one series of devices that can do this.

    means it is same way as we do when isolation like when we do use of optocoupler. but opto's are unidirectional.
    right???

    Yes, for I2C you would need a bidirectional isolator such as one of these.
