How would you sort this mess?

LMAO that's hilarious.

I like the powerbar there, just no funds to purchase one at the moment but I will need to I think because all I have for power right now is the 4 outlet plug I have placed next to my light.

What I am doing right now is adding a shelf that goes 'around' the inside about 4" off the desk surface.

It'll look something like the ascii picture below if it turns out properly when I press post.
The power supply will (for now) sit on one of the wider sides. Although I'm going to see what I can do about making the shelf on top wider so it'll hold the power supply as pictured above. (lol again)

To make more square footage on your workspace/desk, you can't beat making a few risers similar to this:

Take some measurements, cut some plywood, and attach.
Risers? for $59.99? I would never have thought of selling those.

I just go to the shed and make anything I want, never thinking somebody else might not be able to do the same thing.

Oh yeah, that price was ridiculous.

That's why I included this line:

"Take some measurements, cut some plywood, and attach.";)

Isn't that nuts?? $60 for;

A plank of wood
2 cuts
4 screws
stain/paint
5 mins of work in a reasonably equipped shop

Even the picture looks like it's either scrap wood or some kids grade 7 woodshop homework.

I picked up a discarded computer desk, a cheap one with the wood grain finished particle board. I have cut it up and made all kinds of things including a couple risers like in the link so we could put a VCR/DVD under a TV in the bed room.

I see all kinds of this cheap particle board furniture in front of peoples houses all the time waiting for the garbage truck. Good source for project material.

I change particle board furniture so it works. Replace the paperboard back with 1/2" plywood so it doesn't rack, hide a 2x4 behind the front trim strips so the top or shelves don't sag, add a couple of 2x4's under the skirt trim so I can add casters that actually roll without tearing out the particle board, and, Presto! A $29.95 particle board microwave cart can hold up a 65 pound TV for decades. A major point being that you can not see anything I did to modify it.

ps, The girl in the photo is my business partner's daughter. I'd tell you about her but this isn't a porn site.

You have a picture of a coworkers daughter? interesting.....

Anyway this is what I've done so far. I just need to organize all those storage boxes and figure out a solution for my power supply.

Yes I can leave it there and add a small shelf under it for support, but it still looks largely out of place and I'd like to do something creative with it if that's possible, or if an idea strikes me.

You ain't seen mess til you've seen my workspace! :) One thing I would definitely do is mount that parts cabinet to the wall. This looks like a good metal one so should mount quite easily. Get what you can off the desk entirely. If you can get a bigger parts cabinet, then maybe the parts in the small plastic boxes could go in as well. Just get one big enough for expansion and mount it. That's what I'd start with.

I actually prefer the storage boxes opposed to one large drawer system, it saves me standing up a lot and makes the parts portable should I need to bring them somewhere.

The scope I also like low, originally I was going to put the power supply on that shelf but realized it took up a lot of space, and the scope looked better there.

Not, "co-worker", business partner. We've been in business together since 1978, five years before the girl was born. I could be considered similar to one of her uncles.
