hi,i do have a problem in reseting my counter.i do configure 7490 to count 0-1-2-3-4-5 by connecting pin number 2 to pin 9,pin number 3 to pin 8,pin 6 and pin 7 to ground,pin number 1 to pin 12,and pin number 14 to external clock and it works perfectly,i do want to reset it to 0000 by put a switch in such away when i close a switch it resets to 0000 but when i open a switch it counts as normal,could anyone help me?thanks

Have you tried reading the 74LS90 datasheet?

Pins 2 and 3 are the reset pins. You'll need to OR gate them with a master reset input.

 

Dumb question time, why didn't you use a 7492, which is a divide by 6 or 12 counter?

Have you trying switching pin 6 or 7 high? Those are the reset pins.
