I want to make a simple computer software for windows to control a radio controlled robot . Can you tell me how to do it by steps ?

p.s I have already build a robot without a RF receiver and I want to modify it.

Range, data rate, unidirectional or bidirectional control, your level of experience with RF?

Might be easier to use an Android device and write an App such as the likes of the Parrot Drone does using WiFi.

The fact that you put down 500m as the desired range shows you have no experience with RF, or the legalities of using/licensing a radio link. 500m is tough to achieve with the commonly-available, license-free products, with the possible exception of radio-controlled model aircraft hardware. Even the 2.4GHz stuff would likely not be very reliable at 1/2km between buildings in an urban environment.

    What country are you in?

I knew there is a new wifi could do the receive and transmission about 8km, but does the recent wifi can do the R/T about 500 m?
