how to link pic16F877A with solar?

    hye everyone,

    my final project need me to link pic 16F877A with solar.. i know that it needs 5V to supply for the pic and as for solar we can just use voltage regulator right? or do any of you have another way? i didnt have any idea on how should i link them as im not very familiar with solar. so can anyone help me? thanks in advance :)

    link them to do what?

    Do you simply want to read the output voltage from the solar array?
    Maybe create a solar tracker?

    The OP probably wants to power the PIC from solar.

    Use a DC/DC converter such as LTC3105 and use a zener to clamp the voltage.

    @mcgyvr : Link them to power up ir sensor and alarm. No, i want to detect motion using ir sensor and when it detect motion the alarm will on but of course i need solar to generate energy and use it as supply for them.

    Are you only detecting motion in the daytime or will you need batteries?
