How do you know when you need to use different types of capacitors for power stabilization and how and use caps for other reasons. How do you know when to use different filtering components like RC, inductors, ferrite bead, band pass, etc.?

 

 

Passive components will attenuate the signal. So the question becomes: How much attenuation are you willing to suffer?

If passive components attenuate too much, then you know that you will need to use active components.
