I don't want to be a nag but ... I think it is better for professionals to do this.

Firstly, you already bought a motherboard AND at the same time you are still asking us if it even is a motherboard problem.
Secondly you are not descriptive about your problem. you just said 1) It is broken 2) I can't power the laptop. That will not grant you much help.
Thirdly, this is an electronics forum, not a pc repair shop
... and I think I can keep making up numeric remarks.

Be more descriptive. What happens when you try to turn it on, does something blink, sounds, screen?
Did you measure the voltage of the laptops adapter?
Did something happen before this problem rise? Spilled a drink? Chucked it? Funny burnt smell?
Why do you think it is a motherboard problem?
... I can keep doing this ...

Let us know more.

Take out all the screws and try not to break any locks while you rip it open

There will be screws under keyboard and also under HDD as such.

Laptops can be a nightmare to open with screws hidden like R!f@@ says. Make a note were the screws come from, take photos if necessary and don't force anything because if it isn't opening there's likely a screw or clip. See if there's a video on Youtube that shows you how.
