I have been trying to design a universal battery charger that can determine the battery chemistry irrespective of the number of batteries attatched without any external inputs. I have been trying to use the internal impedance but haven't found any good source of the impedance-voltage relationships yet. Could you please help me at this matter?

    Hi,

Have you tries going to the various battery manufacturers sites to look for this information?

Also, what happens if your gang charger has two or more types of battery inserted? You may need to be able to check station by station for incorrect batteries. That might also make sensing for battery chemistry a bit easier.

Have a look at BQ2000 datasheet, now owned by TI. It has information on how to approach multi-chemistry charging safely and detection/qualification of unknown batteries prior to fast charging.
