    Hai..

I am designing metal detector, which should detect the metal at a distance range of 400mm.. Please guide me with necessary circuits and 'coil winding structure'..

How big a piece of metal do you need to detect? What type of metal? Detecting something relatively small at 4 meters will be a real challenge. Most of the hobby projects are limited to 100 cm or less.

Edit: I just misread the units. Thank you, beenthere. John

I think 400 mm is only 40 cm.

The metal detector need to be designed for a conveyer system. The conveyer carries plastic things.. If any metals come with it, the detector should detect it. The metal may be of any sizes. The machine should take only plastics from the conveyer, any metal pieces in it will spoil its blades. This is my requirement. 400mm (40cm) is the required detecting range. Can I use the details from the above link..
