    Dear frnds,

i have a doubt that ,can we change over the three phase motor supply into single phase motor supply directly??

Use two phases, if the voltage matches the motor.

I don't understand. Wouldn't you use just one phase to drive a single-phase motor?

Across two phases IS single phase. At least that is what I intended to mean.
Unless you also have 3 phase and star connected transformer source.
If you have, you have two 1ph voltage sources of a different voltage value where either could be compatible with the motor.

Presumably the 1ph motor would already have the split phase caps in place?
At least the way I understood the OP, he wanted to run a 1ph motor on a 3ph supply?

Okay, I understand. Of course across any two of wires of the 3-wire 3-phase connection would give a single phase. When you said use two phases I was thinking something else. ;)

Basically what has been said, Although it does not show the phase to star neutral option.
    Max.
