Why do you want to do that? We need to know more about your requirements and constraints before we can help you.

i want to make a line tracking robot automatically without any control so i want to know will i put any component between the PIC and the h bridge??or connect them together directly???

I use PORTB and connect the outputs directly to the inputs of an IC driver, a SN754410, which can directly drive small motors, or drive a larger driver.

L298 is a driver for H bridges, not a micro.

You may want to consider using this pre-designed L298 board available from solarbotics and other websites as well. It comes in kit form so you will need to do the soldering yourself. It packages the L298 in a form that makes it more easily interfaced to your microcontroller.

You can connect L293 directly to microcontroller.
No any component needed in between.

Let me know if you need any more help

Why not an L297 in between the PIC and L298 ?
It makes the programming on the PIC much simpler.

Use of L297 depends on application/flow of program,
If uC/PIC don't have to do any task while motor is rotating, then there is no need of L297, it will increase cost and size of PCB.
