Just found on the internet an Intelligent Battery Tester by ACT which pretty sums up what I'm trying to say here. The device should be able to capture the ampere of the battery and the result be read with a PIC. The LCD display is not important. But the capture time has to be less than 0.5 of a second.

What components would be required and how would the schematic be?
