I have been searching for a circuit showing the operation of an ATX switch.

A single press turns the machine on, a second press signals a shutdown, and an extended press turns all power off.

How is the switch debounced and controlled in this fashion? Does it use a 555 to provide commands based on the power state? e.g.

Press when no power on = Power ON
Press when power on = Send shutdown command
Hold when power on = Power OFF

Thanks for the link. It describes the inputs and LOW HIGH states. I was hoping to see what circuit analyses these inputs.

Single push off, long push shutdown etc. 555 timer based circuit?

    Any help appreciated...
