    Hey guys,

I have a really small IC that I need to make connections to for a uni project. I would like to put it into a breadboard or similar, so that I can build circuits around it.

The only trouble is the spacing on it is so tiny!! The whole IC itself is about the size of the fingernail on your little finger.

Here are the dimensions for it. Is there some kind of a socket or something I could utilize? I've been looking but I cannot seem to find one!

No sockets for these.. If you really want to go without proper PCB, you can for example bend every other pin up and the rest down from the socket, and connect some enameled magnet wire to them. But it won't be anywhere near the reliability of a chip soldered to PCB directly.

I found a socket that looks like it might work...

It's a whopping AUD$237/USD$180 though. Why is it so exp?

EDIT: Ahh I found another one.. for 19 bucks..

Lets hope that your soldering skills are good. I've known many good Techs and Engineers that had the soldering finesse of a blind welder that just drank a gallon of coffee! :D I had a friend (long ago) that built a Heathkit that he asked me to look at because it didn't work. When I opened it I exclaimed... "You have a short and a cold solder joint"!.. He said.. "Where"?... I said... "Everywhere"!
