Are they more than just LEDs? Some show they have built in resistors (attachment). I can see those with low voltage (3.5 V or so) as just being LEDs, but my question is concerning those 12 V or 24 V modules. The "12 V" say they work of 9 to 12 V. Do they have a built in regulator? The data sheets just don't say much.
Does anyone have experience and insight on these things?

No built in regulator on the ones you've linked to just the paralled circuit of two LEDs with current limit resistor for each leg.

They probably do work at 9V but will be dimmed. The voltage drop of the LEDs plus the resistor will not allow them to work much lower than 9V I imagine?
