Hey I'm trying to figure out how this LED works. I know how to hook it up but I'm wondering whether the colors are controlled by voltage change or what have you. If not, is there a type of LED that changes color based on voltage or current manipulation because that is what I'm looking for. Here is the part from radio shack...but it will most likely break in a day because it is from radio shack.

LEDs, 555s, Flashers, and Light Chasers

The Radio Shack part has 3 LEDs encapsulated with an IC that sequences through all the colors.

By using the colors Red, Green, and Blue (same colors used by a color TV) a wide range of colors can be created. It is not controllable however.

You can buy RGB LEDs that have 4 leads, that are controllable, from elsewhere.
