I was wondering about a couple things that have to do with the Minilab 1008:

a.) Can I hook up switches and/or LEDs directly to the Minilab's ports such as:
Switches connected to PortA and my outputs connected to PortB or do I have connect them through a chip first?

b.) For the outputs if I want to turn on an LED based on a condition within a Visual Basic 6 program, should I use the code for analog out or digital out?

First, it isn't a homework assignment. It's actually part of my final project, and yes i have looked at the users guide that comes with the software.
