In my line of work,my main power source is a large diesel or gasoline air compressor, with hoses strung out to the work site.
I am too far from the machine to see the gauges,I was thinking of a led strip composed of green, yellow, red lights so I could moniter the macine from a distance.
I have very basic electronic skill
    Where do I start?

These are pressure gauges, right? You'd need some way of translating pressure to an electrical signal. These devices exist, but I've never messed with them. From there you need to interface it to a LED bargraph.

So you would need a pressure transducer and some hardware. There is a very good chance you can buy it off the shelf. Have you looked in Grainger or McMaster Carr catalogs?
