Thyristor design has probably come a long way since that long ago - you could probably find a generously rated 800V part without too much searching, I'd go for at least 12A rating.Hi folks,
From a 1973 CDI ignition system, I have a thyristor with S596 on the component. Does anyone know a modern day equivalent to this one?
any help appreciated
This system use a BT151 SCR http://archive.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_110499/article.html So yes it may work. Have you identified the pin order. That may also be of importance as not all SCRs have the same pin configurationHi guys, thanks indeed for your help, tricky to take a pic, but it is just like an ordinary transistor, looks like an MCR 100.
Other than suggested, does a BT 151 sound like an alternative too?
