I was trying to troubleshoot a HID flashlight that I have, and after breaking it down I came across a component that was unknown to me. Does anyone know what this is (see pics)? It has a plastic case and is sealed on one side with three wires coming out of it. Two of the wires went through the PCB and the other one (red) went to the bulb.

Strong suspicion that might be a HV transformer.

 

I think you are right. I just did an image search for small HV transformers, and some of the ones that came up looked very similar. Thank you!

 

Yes, it's the high-voltage trigger transformer, used to ignite the lamp.
