Finally got teh circuit together but I can'tget it to work. I replaced the photo diode and the ir diode with the TCRT5000. I'm getting 1 volt across the TCRT5000. I think there is something wrong with this component, also I can;t get the led to light up with each heart beat. So any suggestions on how to test the optical sensor? Thanks

    Hi ddickey,

You need to make a few changes before the circuit will even work at all. See attachment. You have to bias the amps so that the output swing is between +5 and grd.

I have not tested, but it should work now, however, you may need to adjust gains and cap values to get what you want on the output.

    Good Luck,
