i connected 555's vcc & pin#4 to an optocoupler.

 

It would be better to post the schematic in the thread you started (http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/showthread.php?t=25579, and where they asked you to post it, rather than start a new thread.

Starting a new thread with the posting of another incomplete schematic was not what I had in mind.

You need to make a complete schematic of your circuit, and you should post it in the original thread that you started; referenced in my 1st reply to the 1st thread that you started today.

Starting new threads on the same exact subject is confusing and irritating.
