Heatsink positioning

    Does positioning a heatsink affect the dispersion of heat? For instance on that LED light http://www.zylight.com/is3c-led-light/ the picture on the right is showing the fins running horizontally since heat goes up would it make more sense to have the fins run vertically or it doesn't make any difference? BTW these things run pretty hot!!!

    Logically if the fins are goign from top to bottom, then the flow of the air over them is easier, but the difference will not be very big, especially when they are so short/low.

    Not really, it doesn´t matter much, and besides making that profile with the fins going the other way would cost much more beacuse it is so wide, so the extrusion machine would have to be larger than usual.
