I have had simiilar problem all my life, heart doctors find it on ekg's. seems that some of the nerve bundles that determine the heart rate disagree once in a while and my heart skips a beat. they arent very concerned, yet. there might be more hazardous versions tho.

My wife had a rapid heartbeat problem. At first, she was able to force her heart back into normal rhythm by coughing and some physical gyrations. But those methods became less and less effective, and the problem would persist for hours at a time. Ultimately, she ignored the advice of a local cardiologist and saw a specialist, who performed radio-frequency ablation. That was four years ago, and not a single problem since. Her sister had the same issue, the same solution, and the same good outcome.

Hi R!f@@,

Sorry to take so long to reply . It took me until now to get a messed-up subscription fixed. Here is a good review of SVT in a reputable journal. Unfortunately, this review is 6 years old, so it may not have the latest therapies. I cannot find a single instance of "EPS" or"RFA." Can you describe what those mean? Is RFA a type of ablation therapy?

That link should take you to the abstract, but it is not very informative. You may be able to get access to the full article through your physician or at any large medical center.

I wish the very best for your father. Many of us here have dealt with the failing health of our parents. Keep your spirits up.

Regards, John

My sister did the RFA. Worked perfectly. Still no problems 25 years later, except she's still a giant PIB. (Pain In the B***)

I think I read about that...

Side effects of RFA: some discomfort, including swelling and bruising at the site of the treatment, but this generally goes away after a few days. After the procedure, your brother will still think you are a pain in the butt.
