i'm using dual channel opto hcpl2630 for my application.since its output is inverting mode, i am using a inverting stage(bjt) at its output.also it will do the reqd level shifting. the opto's HIGH Level Output Current is 100uA.and the vcc to opto pin 8 is 5V, the output im using to drive base of an npn transistro say 2n3019. to utilise the full 100uA, wat value of base resistor should i put?the bjt is tied to Vcc 15V, and wat abt the collectro resistr?

The base resistor should be about 44k. The collector resistor depends on what the transistor is driving.

Hi,

Just to double check Mik3's calculations, it would help if you upload a schematic, even if it's just a hand sketch as the wording of your post can be interpreted in more than one way.
