can anyone tell me how to construct a half adder using a mux? the answers already posted here didnt help. . . (no offence meant)

Make up your truth table. Look at the two bits involved in the addition, and the single bit result. The answer should pop right out - especially is you have a 4 - 1 MUX data sheet to look at.
