Writing code with notepad is alright, but i was wondering if there was a program (a bit like microsoft visual for C# and C++ etc) that has databases for most of the PIC microcontrollers available, i have seen a lot of samples that say like #include 12f675.h or something like that, is this like a library with all the terms in?

I use the CCS Compiler, this integrates with Microchip's free MPLab software.

The commercial version is not cheap, but I believe there is a free stand-alone demo that is restricted to how big a program it works with.

Have a look at www.ccsinfo.com
