Nonsense. She's old enough to follow her dream, even if it leads to her demise. That's what individual freedom is all about. That said I feel bad for her and hope she finds a way to survive.

A few years ago when I visited the National Maritime Museum I saw a note in place of one of the exhibits.

"Major X___X is currently rowing the Pacific in this boat. It will be back on display on September 23rd"

The implication being - God help him if he's late.

What in the HELL is anyone doing sailing in the south IO in winter? This young lady is very lucky she's not shark food.

This was the main critisism about the trip. To set the record she had to sail through the worst oceans in the world, she tried it, and it almost cost her family everything. Her brother and the other girl planned their trips in proper sailing weather.

When I was 16, I tried to do many things. I felt the "weather" would allow me safe passage.

It is called "immaturity". And Ive held onto it with a death-grip. ;)
