If in a basic amp diagram, the input is shown as -30dBm and the output is 20dBm, what would the gain be?

Gain db = Output DB - Input DB

 

I'm just not sure if the gain is -10 or 50

Can anyone give me an answer/explanation?

 

Hello,

As Bill alreaddy told you : Gain db = Output DB - Input DB
The gain will be 20 -(-30) = 50 dB.
