Hi all,

i'm new to the site and electronics.
this site looks like a great place to learn with heaps of interesting chat.

Fractal HDTV Antenna for about $5.00. posted on (link below) here looks really exciting and i'm going to give it a go in the next week.

looking at the tv design and the online calculator for a half wave dipole the question i have is this.

once you get a length for the dipole from the online calculator is that the "wire length" or the overall length of the fractal shape????

thanks : )

Why are you asking us Telluric? A halfwave dipole is NOT a fractal antenna, so how the wavelength relationship of the fractal antenna you're talking about is entirely up to it's designers specifications, it won't necessarily be 1:1 in either aspect.

Personally I'd just use a halfwave dipole. If you want directionality and high gain a biquad works quiet well, and for TV frequencies are very manageable in both size and space.
