No, a real LM317 is capable of 1.5A output, as per the datasheet. What I said was, the model of the LM317 I'm using is limited to around 800mA output.

Thank you for clearing that up. I thought the LM317 was capable of more.

I am going with around .8 amps. Simply because getting a .62 or combination to create it is proofing difficult. .8 amps should be fine.

Gee, It's not hard - order it from Digikey; it should cost less than a buck including shipping USPS 1st Class. I already posted a link to a 0.62 Ohm 2 Watt resistor on their site.

Oops sorry. I guess with my dyslexia I was reading it as 6.2. Assuming you were referring to your original schematic.
