fingerprint scanner using image comparison

    hai all..!
    i m thinking of making a fingerprint scanner.
    there will be a glass slide to place the finger and a camera beneath it. when the finger is placed above, the incident light is cut-off and the camera is activated. this now takes the photo of the fingerprint. this has to be compared with the actual print in the records.

    i think we can use matlab to do the image comparison, but i don't know if a camera will be able to take an accurate enough photo. also, i can't provide a computer for running matlab, so can it be implemented in a mc?

    what do you guys think?

    How would you compare the image to those in the database? Pretty hard to store a fingerprint database.

    I believe you would need a computer to run matlab for developing the program. Perhaps after the program is developed some subset could be downloaded into a mc.
