    Hey our professor has been talking about butterworth, chebyshev and bessel filters. Hes been focusing on low pass butterworth filters with a maximum order of 5. What I do not understand at this point is if we know what the pass band frequency range is and what the stop band is going to be then what is the point of having a corner frequency specified? Last semester we did bode plots and corner frequencys to me seemed like the point where attenuation began but isnt that the stop band frequency here?

    For example lets say we know the pass band frequency is 1KHz and the stop band frequency is 5KHz then does that mean the corner frequency is
    a) somewhere in between 1 KHz and 5KHz?
    b) right at 1KHz since thats when the transition should begin?
