why a gap or an open circuit is present in an equivalent circuits it may be thevenin's equivalent or others.(the gap i am talking about is shown in the photo attached)

 

The gap exists in this device model because the effect of the currents present in the left side upon the currents induced in the right side are accounted for by the dependent source present on the right side of the model.
