I am working on my project which is 3DOF articulated robotic arm.i have evaluated joint angles.dc motors with optical encoders are installed in each joint.i have to convert the joint angles into encoder counts..how can i do that??..

 

You should use servo motor for arm, it will work fine high torque and accurate movement!!

It's a matter of kinematics. How many counts are there per motor revolution? How many degrees of joint rotation are there per motor revolution?

Are the encoders incremental, or absolute?
