embedded programming in microchip

    dear guys,
    I am new to this forum,i need to how to start learning embedded programming in microchip,I had few knowlegde in hardware side, and know little bit about microchip,ccs compiler and mp lab but i dont know even a drop about programming,but i am eager to learn..please help me to were to start and how to start??

    I would strongly suggest you get a development kit from Microchip. These come with a PICkit 2 or 3 which lets you not only program the device but also works as an in circuit debugger. You also get a pre-built pre-tested board and a set of 12 lessons. Cost is just $50 or $70 USD, and they are available in many places such as Digi Key, Newark, Mouser, ...

    You can download the tutorials to get an idea what you will be getting.

    Even Radio Shack sells a Velmann kit now that may be decent (I have not used one) that you could run down and buy today.

    To get started with microcontrollers, first you should have a firm understanding
    of DC electricity which can be found on AllAboutCircuits

    next you should watch my PIC microcontroller getting started video.

    its very simple and quick and tells you everything you need to get started with almost any DIP microcontroller. This tutorial is based on the PIC 16f877a.
