How to interface em-18 rfid reader module with pic microcontroller ?

    Does it requires MAX232?

This would seem to suggest no, but the sketchy datasheet I found said it outputs RS-232, but this could well be from confusion between RS-232 and UART...

Edit: this link seems a little more legitimate, I'd think it works on UART logic levels (especially since it works on 5V).

    Hello,
You don't want to use MAX232.
EM-18 RFID reader works on 5V and I hope that you are using a 5V pic microcontroller. If so you can connect TX of EM-18 directly to RX of PIC.
If you are using a 3.3V PIC, you should add additional voltage divider resistor to reduce 5V to 3.3V.
Try the following link, it might help you.
