May be ur right. There are solar heaters mounted on some buildings.
Now most of the rooms are A/C. guess we will need hot showers.
Are you an expert on this?
if people on the Maldives do not expect hot showers, and is not use to it. Just skip it. I guess freshwater on the Maldives is something not to waste.

Buddy...fresh water in Maldives is thing of the past.
There are so many things that I can point out in the way of a typical Maldivian society.
There are few who is different and takes things professionally.
Maldivians never learn from the past, it's a fact, only few of us do.
Maldivians are ego testicle Maniacs. I really donno what it means but when I think of it I can say they are careless, stubborn and really self centered.
We never listen to any one who is willing to help and we never do any thing right for the first time.
Me being a Maldivian have no shame in saying these things, cause it's the way we are, and it is the truth.
Some things a few of us are fighting to change
Our water has gone salty due to the fact that we took our water for granted.
It is becuase of the government I will say that this has happened. As the high class society and the wealthy son of guns started building huge buildings everywhere and started to drain the water in to the sea during the foundation layout. Huge amounts of fresh water were dumped into the ocean during the last decade. These building are owned by corrupt officials then and the low class people cannot do anything, and now the local water company is the body making the big bucks.
Everything is a rip of here. I will tell you a little story later about how I was abt to deal with the water and sanitation company here yesterday.
Since my lot is being prepared for excavation to lay out the foundation, I do not have the time to be at the PC too much.

But slowly I will update this thread, and believe me this is going to be really interesting journey, to me and to you too.
I want the world to see the things that most of us are dealing with.
These things are really stupid and useless things that we have to face.
I know you might be wondering what they are, don't worry, you will learn soon what I am talking about.
Since this is the first time I will be documenting something like this from the very beginning and me being in the middle of it, I will show you first hand how some of us has to go through to survive.

My story is different, cause we are starting from our life saving to build this home. We do not have the kind of money that most of the people here has, cause what we save are hard earned. What we have is not enuf but we are starting and hope to get a bank loan after the foundation is done.

With not enuf money there are so many things that will come up which are totally unbelievable. The kind with a lot of money won't have any issues, cause if you have cash then you have nothing to worry about. Things can be done under the table for them but not us.

You see we refuse to bribe a certain people to get the drawings approved. We were advised to pay a certain amount of fee to get the job done, like express service or DHL service. So without the fee, it took us 3 months to get something done that would normally take 2 days.
I said to 'em *&%&^# off. :D

I will never give our hard earned money to scumbags like them.
I hope that they see this thread for once.
Like I said, I went a lot to get to where we are now.
More to come, stay tuned.

In my country we have more than enough water, with good quality. We can drink tap water directly, and most of us that. Here is a something funny. I guess everybody have heard of Voss water. It is a fancy bottle water trade mark. I have never tasted it. What many people do not know. Is that Voss water and the locale waterworks use the same source. So yes people are using Voss water to take showers, flush down the toilet, and of course drink it also. But not at same rates as you have to pay for the Voss water on bottle:rolleyes:

U know it's been 3 days with no work on the site and I really am getting pissed of.
It seems that we have to dewater the site before laying out the foundation.
And here is another funny story.

In order to dewater we have to pay around 25000.00 to the water and sewerage company, you see they have this special device that lets you empty all the water in to the well which they have placed around Male'.
I really donno what that device looks like but it is said that it costs that much. We have to pay them to place it in the well so we can connect the pump hose from our site.
And another thing is that there seem to be a tiny problem before which has to be taken care of. It seems the environmental guys have to survey the site to see it is safe for us to dig. To do all this it is taking a around 14 days to get the paper work done and for the specialists to come and check the site.
Our environmentalists and the sewerage company guys have so much work and they have to attend so many sites in this one square kilometer land that it takes literally days to go from site to site.

It is not known to us or may be to them that, or may be I really donno how to survey a digging site to see what hazardous material are there, and to see that it is indeed safe to dig.
Point is they want to see after we have dug half the f&*(*&^ site whether it is safe to dig.
But to me logic states that if you are going to dig a trench or whatever for tht matter to see whether it is safe to dig without affecting the houses around you, you should survey and take soil samples prior to digging. That way we will know what lies beneath and how soft the land fill is. After that certain precautions can be taken on how to dig.
But our specialists wants to see the site after we dig and if they don't see the site we cannot dewater the trench to any where. And takes them days to ride a few meters from their office to the site.

But the funny thing is that the water in the soil is the same water that was there, but I think what they thought was that I brought a piece of land from a nuke testing site and place it on my land and then started digging. So they have to make sure that the area is environmentally safe, and the water from my site can be emptied in to their wells which by the way is a few feet away in the main road. Which however it may be the water in those well are also seeping in to my site too.
When you actually look at it you will be pumping from a well to another well right next to you. So where the bloody hell the water is coming from or going to.

To make all these things clear it will take 14 working days and a lot of money too.

I tried and tried and pleaded the contracting company head to take me to talk to the environmentalists. I like to find out what kind of radioactive material my land has that we have to stop digging and waste our time and money for them to see what kind of land it was.
I really donno if it is them or me are the lucky ones that the contracting company head did not inform me when he dealt with them. Problem is he knows me very well, him being a colleague of mine during my teaching days. He was the civil engineer.

But I really wish that I have met them.

There is more to come, as this story is just one hiccup that came my way.
This being the first time.
Actually there was another I forgot. It was the cable company, which I really had a good time teaching those cable techs a lesson or two. They were never seen again. I think, atleast this is what the engineer said.

I can understand your frustration with contractors and bureaucrats. Is that comment about radioactive for real or an expression of frustration? Where would the radioactive materials have come from?

Over here you have a hugh pipe pumping water several mile out to sea.
You could have the same type system, the water Is treated with chemical.
The systems have been around a long time, just like the electric grid, not much you
can change about it. Installing new pipes can look messy for a while and smelly.

U see John I really donno what the expression was.

I have been on that site since the digging started, I have stopped doing any work, so to say till today I am broke.
I was able to do something during the break I got from these last days and have been doing it round the clock, working my ass off. Literally.
That oxide board thread was the one that got me going this month and the next. Other than that, I have luckily got a few laptops to fix, which by the way is really easy for me to earn something worth. So as of tomorrow, My depths and sis baby and all that headache will be cleared from these few days of work. To tell u the truth, I literally earned twice that of a well paid job with in a weeks time.
So I have been like sleeping for a few hrs. So most of my perception and all that tends to go over, when it comes to these kinda useless, senseless things that the offices of our government have from the day I started understanding the way of a typical Maldivian life.

The radio active thing is to give you an idea on how concerned our well educated environmentalists are on these things. They take it so seriously as they were radio active.
What I do not yet understand is why do they need to check for such things to give us permission to dump water taken from our soil in to a well built right next to the bloody site.
Radioactive was a joke..a bad one I think.
I meant that the water in my land might be from somewhere else, so they need to check em properly before letting it mix with their pure clean water.

Lucky to have a few laptops to repair-----
Give us a lesson on how to choose the right tools how
not to damage laptops In any way.Protecting the case
and other hinges that make a repair look bad.
So close ups of the hinges and how to approach
without bending stuff,If you know what I mean.
A lot of guys won't ask that where I come In,no shame.

Does any of you have any Idea on how the thing above is made and how much it would cost.
All I can see is that it has a huge barrel thingy and the hose coming out goes to the sewer drain.
The hose coming in is from the water pump that is place in the site, bottom is sealed
