Using 555 design and ICs we have covered in class (no counters), design (in MultiSim first), and construct a single die dice game. The game will operate such that when you press a pushbutton the die “rolls” and when the pushbutton is released a random value is displayed on 7 LEDs arranged in the pattern of pips on a standard cube die. The values displayed should be 1 through 6 but it is acceptable if you occasionally get a “0” (no LEDs lit).

How do I construct a counter without using one in my circuit? I am also using a 555.

You can make your own counter using JK Flip Flops. Here 's some background on it:

If you have a masked oscillator output you can use that one to excite the first FF. Otherwise you must mask it yourself with your control signal.
