Effect of code on RC transmission power

Hi
Recently the remote control codes for the access gates have been changed where I live. Immediately there was a significant reduction in the distance from which the gate could be triggered. 2 of the approx 120 remotes in this community no longer worked at all.
We have two gates. The other gate performs as before even though its code has been changed to the same code as the under-performing gate.
I was wondering if there might be some inductive/capacitive issues which would influence the receipt of pulses that just happen to repeat at a different rates.
Looking forward to what could be an interesting answer.
Cheers - Neville

Just taking a tangent here, is it possible when someone "changed the code" at the base station that they bumped an antenna wire or some other setting, or didn't put something back together right?

I have queried the possibility of any accidental bumping of the antenna wire, but the person doing the code change thinks not. When I have an opportunity I will ask to have a look at the installation myself.
