EEPROM or not.

I've been trying to access this chip http://andro.m1n.eu/IMG_7975.JPG , http://andro.m1n.eu/IMG_7961.JPG (flipped vertically). Initially I assumed it is 8 bit EEPROM and built this circuit for it: http://www.chiprecharge.com/images/siprogeng.jpg unfortunately it doesn't give me any data with PonyProg.

Different source said it is at88 series chip which I'm not sure about. Because the large connection areas on one side of the circuit connect to pins 8, 5, 6 , 4. Which all happen to be EEPROM's 8-Vcc, 5-SDA, 6-SCL and 4-Ground.
For a at88 chips 8-Vcc, 5-NC, 6-SCL, 4-NC, which doesn't make much sense.

The the circuit is from Samsung SCX 4500 printer's toner(ML-1630).
Small text on the chip is: SS02-1 0822 (if it's any help).

Last point, I'm using RS-232 to USB, that shouldn't be an issue right.

Any help/advice is appreciated :)
