Hello Everyone!

I have a Coby model: FL-760 portable DVD player that selects disc it plays.Most dvd disc that plays on other player could not be played on this player and a "No disc" indication is on the display. Both the spindle and the lens carriage motors are good. I hope that someone had an encounter with this kind of problem who can kindly help me to fix this problem.

Problem you have with this player is the optical block has failed-the emission is now too low for the toc to be read so your dvd cannot play the disc.....only reliable repair is block replacement with a new one or new dvd player,whichever is cheapest

 

Thanks a lot for your attention! I think you are right! Buying a new dvd player is better than repairing a defective one! Strange thing is that this player is still normally playing many old dvd discs but it can't play some new dvd discs.

It can happen that the player will work with standard DVD's, but not with double layer DVD's due to the fact that the laser intensity dropped.
This will only get worse over time.
