I've found a similar switch, but it is rated 12v.
The drill motor which needs a new switch is 120v.

The switches look the same in terms of the small metal contacts, etc., but when I took the old 120v one apart, there was a miniture circuit (perhaps a diode) in the bottom part of the switch.

Is it possible that the 12v and 120v switches be interchangeable, yes or no?

NO switches are rated for voltage breakdown and rated for current arcs. get something better then before is the ticket.

 

The 12 volt rated switch is not safe to use with 120 VAC.
