Not long ago one of our American posters had a question about the use of "doubt" when used to mean "questions" or "confusion". I mentioned that it was particularly used by our Indian posters.
Well, I was just reading Sherlock Holmes, and I ran across the word "doubt" used in precisely that sense. (I'll find and post the passage when I get home).
So, "undoubtedly" India still is under the English influence, if in language only.
