    What is a "pot"?

We don't have schematics on hand. You can get things like block diagrams using a search engine.

pots = plain old telephone service. You need to buy a dial up modem.

That makes sense - I missed the meaning because of the wording.

Or just ask for one - I have 2 or 3 on a box somewhere. They probably go for $5.00 or so anymore.

That is OK I thought he meant potentiometer. :)

A shame I just threw my acoustic coupled modem away. It served me well for years. I had no idea people were still using them out there.

I used to use it on my Atari 800. It was part of one of the first projects I ever built. I got the modem for free but still needed a serial port. The Atari version was way to expensive. But is hooked to a serial bus. I built one along with the operating system driver.
