i am trying to design a digital controller for a power electronics application, but am lost as to where to start to learn about it.

can anyone recommend some textbooks, papers or application notes for a beginner level user, so that i can get a better understanding of the subject?

If you are starting at ground zero then the e-books on this site are a great starting point. One text I would also recommend is "Tab Electronics Guide to Understanding Electricity and Electronics" by G. Randy Slone.

i should clarify that I have looked at some of the control theory already. What i am really concerned about is the actual implementation of the digital controller. i'm just not sure that i understand what "common" techniques there are to approach this.
